Bixby, known as the "Garden Spot of Oklahoma," began as a small farming community, and major produce providers continue to attract a variety of shoppers. Conrad Farms, on 151st Street, west of Memorial Road is just one excellent place to find fresh produce. Bixby is also home to beautiful neighborhoods and recreational areas carved into the rolling green landscape. This growing community is quickly becoming a family festival destination. In May, the Bixby BBQ and Blues Festival attracts lovers of great BBQ. This event in Washington Irving Park, located just north of the Arkansas River on Memorial Road, mixes a BBQ competition, talented musicians, children’s activities and lots of great food! This event is packed with live music, a carnival, parade, street dance, arts and crafts, children’s activities and lots of freshly roasted corn! The Lavender Festival is also held in June at Lavender Hill Farm, located just south of Bixby on Highway 64 in Stone Bluff. This area is perfect for a weekend getaway, with shopping for arts, crafts, lavender plants, as well as tours of the farm. White Hawk is a beautiful 18-hole golf course located at 151st and Yale and the Links on Memorial is a 9-hole course located at 115th and Memorial. Charley Young Park in Old Town Bixby, and Washington Irving Park at the Memorial Bridge, are two lovely places for a family outing. A scenic trail in Washington Irving Park is perfect for walking, jogging or biking. While you’re there, check out the arboretum with an abundance of native plant life, including a butterfly garden.
