We consider Vinita one of Oklahoma's best-kept secrets, and we're glad to share the secret with you. We have a beautifully restored, historic shopping district, with a wide variety of antique shops and specialty boutiques. While here, you can enjoy the golf course and savory dining, or study our history in the Eastern Trails Museum.

You will not find kinder smiles or more helpful hands than those of the citizens who love Vinita and want to share its charm with others. Visit Vinita and see for yourself what our town has to offer. Don't miss our many events focused on our community's rich cowboy culture, such as the Will Rogers Memorial Rodeo or the World's Largest Calf Fry Festival, held each September. The Civil War Battle of Cabin Creek is re-enacted every third year in October, with near-perfect precision at a site near the original location.

As "America's Crossroads," Vinita was founded in 1871 at the intersection of several railroads. Vinita is the second oldest town in Oklahoma, and is the oldest incorporated town along Oklahoma's Route 66. Today, that historic route, plus Interstate 44, U.S. Highways 60 and 69, and State Highway 2 all bring travelers to Vinita.

The city is located in the heart of some of the most beautiful scenery in the state, and is a great place to visit or live. Nearby Grand Lake O' the Cherokees offers fishing, boating, sailing, swimming, water skiing, beaches, camping, picnic areas and resorts.

Thank you for letting us share our "secret" with you, and we hope to see you soon! If you need more information in the meantime, please call the Vinita Area Chamber of Commerce at (918) 256-7133. You can also order a free Vinita Visitors Guide online now.
